It is the patient’s responsibility to manage their own medication and ensure that they are ordered in a timely fashion. The surgery has 48 hours to complete any repeat medication requests and 72 hours for any requests which may need to be queried.

We know that the practice runs well and many prescriptions are completed on the same day that they are brought in, however we are increasingly being asked to produce prescriptions at very short notice because the patient has forgotten to order them and have now run out. This puts pressure on reception, and even more so, on the Doctors who are already managing full surgeries and hundreds of prescriptions each week.

Please ensure that you order your medication at least 48 working hours before you need it.
